The Cheapest Muppets Movie Ever Made
Author: Sterling Heltzel | Filed under: Uncategorized
It’s been known for a while that Jason Segel, after capturing the hearts of America with Dracula’s Lament and the rest of his Dracula puppet musical, was trying to get a new Muppets film off the ground. At D23, it was made official that The Cheapest Muppets Movie Ever Made (yes, that’s the title) is indeed happening, but by that title, it seems that things may have changed in this project.
The Cheapest Muppets Movie Ever Made is an unproduced idea from Jim Henson about Gonzo spending all the movie’s budget on the opening credits and the rest of the film being as cheap as possible as the Muppets try to figure out what to do to fill the rest of the film, while Segel’s idea, The Greatest Muppets Movie Ever, is about them uniting to save the Muppet Theater from an evil oil tycoon. As it turns out, the old theater its on top of some black gold.
How is that going to work? It’s Segel, so I trust him.
