The Beaver, the film Jodie Foster is directing with Mel Gibson starring is actually happening, and shooting, and…it’s awesome. Kyle Killen’s script is said to be fantastic, and had Jim Carrey and Steve Carell both expressing great interest in it as a star vehicle with a large studio bidding war over it, and it ended up landing in the best acting/directing hands out of the pool, but maybe not the best studio pool. I still have no faith in Summit Entertainment to do anything right. There’s a detailed and spoilerific review of the script on NewsFilm, which you can read at your own risk, but I’m not going to. I’m just going to let this tell me what it is by itself. It’s Mel Gibson. With a beaver puppet. And it speaks with a heavy British accent. And is “Kaufman-esque.” That’s enough for me.
