Obama finally gets the picture.

It may be too little too late, but Obama (and his “going on every news show that isn’t hosted by that dickface Chris Wallace” plan today) finally gets it. The public option must be pushed and it doesn’t matter if the Republicans don’t want to help it get there. Lieberman may be trying to say the public doesn’t support it (still supported by the majority of the American people, Joe. STILL getting your polls mixed up), Lindsey Graham and Olympia Snowe are urging Obama to just stop trying with it, but Obama is finally playing the Cheney card. “Who cares?” As the first President to go on Univision’s Al Punto program, not very well known to anyone who doesn’t watch it, yet it still does better ratings than every other Sunday news program that isn’t Meet the Press, he made sure to make it go with a bang.

“I absolutely do not believe that [the public option]‘s dead,” Obama told Univision. “I think that it’s something that we can still include as part of a comprehensive reform effort.”

And while it is probably too late, his declaration couldn’t come at a better time, as that Max Baucus bill is just about the most embarrassing piece of legislation to have that much hype and importance before it’s unveiling in…ever? The fact that people like Olympia Snowe aren’t running for the hills with that bill, but instead praising it despite acknowledge it “has problems” is comical at best.

When asked whether Republican votes are essential to passing a bill, Obama replied, “You know, I’d love to get Republican votes, but I don’t count on them. … I think, that the opposition has made a decision. They are just not going to support anything, for political reasons.”

Chris Wallace, mentioned above, is still whining that Obama skipped on the option of doing their program, despite doing Meet the Press (NBC), Al Punto (Univision), State of the Union (CNN), This Week (ABC), and Face the Nation (CBS) today. First he called the Obama administration the “biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with” and says that Obama is petty and childish. His arrogance rings further with today’s “question”: “What ever happened to reaching out to all Americans?” I don’t know Chris, do you want him to get interviewed by Linda Ellerbee on Nickelodeon today? You and your Fox cronies were bitching about him talking to kids in class a week or so ago. There’s no reason for him to talk to Faux and there’s no reason for him to talk to you. It also happens that Fox News Sunday has lower ratings than all the shows Obama appeared on today and has since the program’s inception on the main Fox network.

Another amusing thing to happen on State of the Union today, Obama responded to these “OMG SOCIALIST” charges saying, “You know, I’m amused. I can’t tell you how many foreign leaders who are heads of center-right governments say to me, I don’t understand why people would call you socialist, in my country, you’d be considered a conservative.”
