Charlize Theron starring in Atlas Shrugged miniseries?

One of the most famous and undeniably hilarious books ever written, Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged”, has been in the works for film and television for as long as I can remember. With the economic crisis hitting and all, sales of the book skyrocketed, because morons crying over any and all “compromises to their precious capitalism” suddenly turned this into their Bible, as they do every time they find an excuse to. To strike while the iron is hot, instead of trying to get the movie of this 1100-page stinker off the ground, they want to turn it into a miniseries, and Charlize Theron is the one who’s very interested in starring in the project.
Anne Hathaway and Julia Roberts both expressed interest in the part of Dagny Taggart, but Theron has been said to be “spearheading the project”, and is serious about starring in this miniseries. Of course, Angelina Jolie tried to get it off the ground for years and all sorts of drafts and directors and yaddi yaddi yadda. Of course, this book really doesn’t need to be a mini-series, as even though it is 1100 pages, it’s much like Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels in the way that there’s about 100 pages of plot there and the rest is masturbatory hullabaloo. And I’m sure that John Galt’s long stupid-ass speech that drives “all the innovative and creative people to secede” will take up what, 3 episodes? Lionsgate/MGM’s upcoming pay TV network Epix is eyeing the miniseries and its development.
A fun fact is that this project only has one more year left on its option, and if nobody strikes and makes this thing, the project goes back to the Rand estate and will probably cost a whole lot more to renew. So please, someone make this turd into something so I can mock its existence, newfound “relevance” to popular culture, and all the people who will worship it.
You suck, Ayn Rand.
